Focus On Efficiency When Choosing A Grain Bag Unloader: Features To Consider

When choosing a grain bag unloader, there are a number of things to consider. However, one of the most important factors is efficiency. You want to choose a unit that will allow you to operate the machine with as little effort as possible to maintain satisfactory productivity levels. If you're looking for a new bag unloader, here are two efficiency-related features to consider.

Task Shifting Style

Take some time to see just how simple the task shifting process is. Most of these units are designed with a dual-task purpose to both transport grain bags and unload them. Ideally, you want to choose an option that offers the least number of steps to make this operating transition. Ideally, you want to look for an option that allows you to shift between these two tasks simply by adjusting the height of the machine with an automatic lever.

With this operating style, the machine typically acts as a bag transport in the higher position and an unloader in the lower position. If you can, you may want to avoid those machines that require a manual adjustment of the levers, as this generally also includes extra labor and tools. Although the first of the two task shifting styles will typically come along with a greater investment, in the long run, an increase in productivity and efficiency makes it worthwhile.

Bag Recycling

It would be unfair to say that you won't have to exert any effort when it comes to preparing your bags for reuse; however, some unloaders definitely come along with more work than others. Try to look for a unit that has a built-in windup system. With this feature, as the grain is emptied, the bag is automatically rewound onto a spool.

This method ensures that the bag stays clean and that it is already wound up and staged whether you want to store it away or reload it. Units without this feature simply drag the emptied portion of the bag along the grain, requiring someone to physically lift it and wind it back on the spool. Not only does this increase work, but there is also an increased risk of damaging the bag with this process.

Grain bag unloaders are highly functional pieces of equipment that can come along with a significant investment. Take your time to analyze the options to ensure that you choose a unit best suited to meet your short and long-term needs.

About Me
A Convenient Tool

I grew up on a small ranch in the southeastern United States. My parents’ estate contained a sizable pecan orchard. Every fall, the family would painstakingly pick up pecans by hand. Besides being time consuming, this arduous work also made our backs hurt. One year, my grandmother had the foresight to buy a handy tool to pick pecans up with. She simply rolled the tool along the ground. When she did this simple task, the tool would instantly grab and store any nuts in its vicinity. If you’re tired of picking up pecans by hand, consider investing in a tool to help make your job much easier. On this blog, you will discover the best tools to utilize when gathering pecans.
